Nicola Lloyd Counselling is committed to complying with the terms of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and to the responsible and secure use of your data. Nicola Lloyd Counselling has a legitimate interest in processing personal data to provide counselling services.
The purpose of this statement is to let you know what personal information Nicola Lloyd Counselling collects and holds, why we collect this data, how long it is stored for and your rights over your personal data.
Nicola Lloyd Counselling is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), reference ZB946686 and the appointed Data Protection Manager for Nicola Lloyd Counselling is Nicola Lloyd, Owner.
Information about you
When you enquire about counselling we ask for contact details and relevant personal information from you that is needed to answer your enquiries and to keep you informed.
We will only ask for and keep the data needed to ensure we provide you with an efficient level of service and support and any legal commitments we have as a business. Data continues to be stored securely, as required by my insurer, for 5 years after ending therapy and is then destroyed.
Our use of this information
Your data will be used only to provide you with our services and to give you information relating to our services.
Access to your data will be limited to only those who need it to provide you with the services you have requested or consented to receiving or have legal authority to request access to it. We will ensure that we have in place a confidentiality agreement with anyone having access to your data.
Security
We will take all reasonable precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of information you give us.
Communications in connection with this service may be sent by email. For ease of use and compatibility, communications will not be sent in an encrypted form unless you require it and give us permission to communicate with you in that way. Email, unless encrypted, is not a fully secure means of communication. Whilst we endeavour to keep our systems and communications protected against viruses and other harmful effects, we cannot bear responsibility for all communications being virus-free.
Your rights over your personal data
Under the General Data Protection Regulations 2018, you have certain rights. These are to:
- Request information on what data is held about you
- Have your data changed or deleted from our records
- Withdraw any consent given
- Have your data transferred
- Restrict processing of your data and/or objection to its processing

Under normal circumstances we will not charge you for processing these requests and will respond to you within 30 working days. If we believe your request is complex and will be chargeable; we will first contact you before proceeding.
What happens if we lose your data or it is accessed by unauthorised persons?
If we detect that ‘personal data’ we are holding as a Data Controller has been lost or accessed by unauthorised persons to create a data breach, and that this will potentially infringe your rights or cause you harm, we will inform you immediately of the data breach.
We will also be required legally to inform the Information Commissioner’s Office (the Government’s data protection regulator) within 72 hrs of detecting the breach, who may then investigate our compliance with data protection legislation and effectiveness of our controls.

Use of cookies on our website
